The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) has announced $13.5 million in grant funding for the Rural Emergency Medical Services Training Program, strengthening community safety, public health and access to care in rural areas.
Fire-based and non-fire based EMS agencies operated by local or tribal governments are eligible to apply and submit applications by Thursday, July 16, 2026.
The program’s goal is to advance efforts to combat national addiction and overdose crises and is part of a greater $80 million from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)—specifically allocated for rural agencies to improve care for patients with substance use disorders or mental health conditions.
